![]() This week was a great week to be a teacher! The week started with many of my students winning well-deserved gold medals at the State Solo and Ensemble Competition, and we had a great week of teaching and playing together. After a successful few days presenting classes at Eastern Kentucky University and Morehead State University, I got to come home and enjoy two fabulous concerts today. My high school horn quartet first did a phenomenal job presenting a demanding arrangement of Mozart's Magic Flute Overture. They performed as a feature on the Avon Brass Concert partnered with Star United. I was also proud to see such a strong and talented horn section in all the other numbers: we worked hard to create a unified sound, and their dedication paid off! Special thanks to Mr. Harloff and Mr. Webb for allowing me the privilege of working with them this year. I next attended the Indiana Youth Wind Ensemble concert, featuring my student Jacob performing the last movement of Strauss' first horn concerto with the group. It was wonderful to hear him play at his best when it mattered; he performed the concerto beautifully with great maturity. Bravo to all of my students; your hard work is paying off!
